Beginnings Blogfest and Imagination Begins With You
January is starting off with lots of blogfests. Today is the Beginnings Blogfest hosted by LG Keltner. The rules are simple, write about the beginnings of something, anything.
This might be a bit of a cop out, and if so, I apologize. However the beginning of 2013 is turning out to be incredibly busy. My blog is filling up with guest posts, cover reveals, book reviews and blog tours. I love it! However, it’s making it hard to find a day to post the important information that I need to share with you.
Back in 2011 a friend decided that he wanted to do something to encourage young writers. What he came up with was a high school writing contest. The rules would be simple, the stories short, and hopefully each entrant would experience the joy of using their imaginations to create. I was a judge that first year and was surprised at the quality of stories coming from teens across the country. It was a wonderful and fulfilling experience.
Time commitments made it impossible for me to participate last year, but this year I’m ready to read more amazing stories from our young writers. There are great prizes to be had, so take a look and share the info with the teens in your life. It would be great if you could pass this along to your local high schools as well. The writer wins, and so does their school library.
